  • INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE FITTING OF VENTILATED DISCS FROM XW FALCONS ONWARDS TO 4 & 6 CYLINDER CAPRI STUBS.
  • Kit contains:

  • 2 off Bearing Adaptor Sleeve 
  • 2 off LH/RH Caliper Brackets –Weld on Discs come in various types with hub and disc in one or two piece, large and small wheel spigots, but all will fit. Standard Ford wheel bearings and seals are used in this conversion, so be sure that they are with disc rotors when purchased. Remove bearings, seals and inner bearing shells, this is a good time to check that they are all in good condition. Thoroughly clean both hubs and remove any burrs. The disc hub must be machined 9mm deeper (as in Fig. 2) to allow the inner bearing shell to be re-positioned. After machining re-fit bearing shells and re-pack with disc brake grease. Remove Capri brake assembly from stub axles and again thoroughly clean and check for damage. Place oil seal and bearing adaptor in oven, set to 150º and leave long enough to soak heat (these parts do not have to be over heated, just starting to turn a light straw colour will do). Using pliers or tongs remove from oven and drop onto prepared stub axles. Do not move the axles yet, first make sure that the sleeves are in place, this can be done by tapping the sleeve lightly with a soft hammer or a piece of wood. Heat the outer sleeve as you did with bearing and seal adaptors, and fit carefully, have a piece of tube just big enough to fit over thread to push the sleeve into position, fit 9/16" bolt to caliper bracket. Bolt on caliper mounting. Fit machined spacers between stubs and steering arms to gain tie rod to disc clearance. Use supplied 2-1/2" x 3/8" UNC bolts and nylocs. Fit discs with supplied machine castellated nut and new split pin. Prior to fitting calipers, grind the mounting face on caliper flat from any casting bumps or writing. The new mounting face is now opposite to the original. Drill out the threaded hole. (See sketch.)
